FAQ’s

What are Gecko Skinz made of?

– Gecko Skinz are made of a synthetic polymer called Polyvinyl Alcohol.

Can I put it in the washer?

– Yes Gecko Skinz should be hand washed or machine washed in cold or warm water with liquid detergent.  DO NOT TUMBLE DRY

How do I store it?

– After washing Gecko Skinz wring as much water out of them as possible.  Next, fold them in half and roll for storage.  Towel will dry to a cardboard like texture.  Do not bend while dry as towel may crack.  To use again just add water to soften (Warm water works the fastest).

How long does it last?

– For a single use roughly 1-4 hours depending on weather conditions, but no biggie, simply wet to reactivate.  With proper care towel will last for years.

May I put my Gecko Skinz cooling towel in the freezer?

– No.  Please DO NOT put Gecko Skinz cooling towels in the freezer as they may become brittle.  Adding cold/warm water and letting the Gecko Skin do its job is the way to go.

Why do you store it by rolling?

– Gecko Skinz dry to a hard cardboard like substance.  If the cooing towel is left to hang dry it would be impractical to carry it in that large hardened state as you cannot bend it after it is dry.

May I cut my Gecko Skin?

– Yes.  Gecko Skinz are lined with an inner mesh that strengthens the towel.  Once cut the ends will not fray.

  1. I purchased 2 at the Airdrie Farmers Market and they have been wonderful!
We have used them while gardening, doing home construction and riding our motorcycle. They work very well, no more wet Tshirts! Do you distribute them through motorcycle dealerships, sport stores or work clothing stores?

  2. I’m glad you enjoy them and are putting them to good use! I am always looking for good stores to retail Gecko Skinz. Currently they are being sold at Section 8 Sports in Lethbridge. I think there will be more stores to come in the future. Have a great day!

    • Hi I am very sorry I didn’t get back to you. Your post got mixed in with all my spam :(. Were you able to purchase one? If you order one online you usually receive it within a few business days. Please send me an email if you have any further questions. info@coolbluegecko.com

  3. will the skinz work for a dog? i.e. can I drape it over my dog’s back on a hot day? or does it have to be on bare skin (not a dog’s fur coat…)

    • Hi Norman,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes Gecko Skinz work for dogs as well! It works the best on short haired dogs. If your dog has a very thick coat of fur I would say it wouldn’t effectively cool your dog. Have a great day! Please don’t hesitate to email me with any further questions.

  4. I bought 2 of these gecko skinz at the lilac festival in Calgary. Best thing ever! works great stays cool for hours. It’s part of my life now for sure, thank you very much. They would make a great gift.!

  5. We bought two at the lilac festival as I was getting a burn. Kept it over my shoulders for hours and it stayed wet and kept me cool all afternoon. Definitely saved me from a lot of pain the next day as well.

  6. We bought 3 at Red Deer;s Fiestaval three years ago. It was a blistering hot day and they were a Godsend! Have been using them ever since and they are absolutely awesome. Recently, used them for our daughter’s spring league basketball team, where the players were playing in some school gyms that were like saunas. Gecko skinz helped the girls stay cool – in fact, they fought over them while sitting on the bench! We’ll probably buy some more for the team, as well as the school team next year. Great product – am very interested in your new product too – the heelz socks???

    • Thank you for the great review! I’m glad they helped you. The heel socks is a work in progress. It could take a long while before I can get those in.

  7. I bought one over a year ago at a festival in calgary and I love it, I literally use it every night to sleep!!! Best cloth ever!!!
